I have been trying to find out what type of mushrooms these are... I have a patch of grass beside my house that I get this long string of these mushrooms that grow “under the ground” as bumps and continue to get larger until the majority of the ball is above ground... Please help... the suspense is killing us not knowing what they are and why we have them just in that one spot... Thanks

Hello Folks, I am in Central Ohio - it's the 28th of November and we have already had several night frosts and still, these mushrooms under my white pine tree keep spreading like wild fire. Any clue as to their ID? I have attached 4 images of different stages. Their surface is dry, grayish, brownish, bluish, their stem non-bulbous. Thanks so much, Sue

Is most likely a false truffle, my guess would be Scleroderma polyrhizum. Can't be sure without doing a few tests on it though.....
The second set of pictures under white pine is most likely in the Tricholoma genus. Reasons for that deduction- late in the season, notched gills where it attaches to the stipe, and many Trich's like pine. It would help if I knew what color the spores were. Of course Tricholoma is a fairly large genus so further tests would be needed to get it to species. Maybe myomyces???
Anyone else care to tell me what they think it is?
